Deltona Pressure Washing: Keeping Volusia County's Largest City Clean

Deltona is one of Florida's fastest-growing cities — and its suburban homes need regular exterior cleaning to stay ahead of mold, algae, and Florida's relentless humidity. Learn what professional pressure washing can do for your Deltona home.

Daytona Beach Pressure Washing serves Deltona and the surrounding area with professional soft wash roof cleaning. We are a division of Daytona Beach Roofing (License #CCC1336785).

Why Deltona Roofs Develop Black Streaks

The dark streaks running down roofs throughout Deltona are not dirt — they are Gloeocapsa magma, a cyanobacteria that feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles. It thrives in Florida's warm, humid climate and spreads via wind and birds. Left untreated, it consumes shingle granules, retains moisture against the surface, and shortens roof life by years.

Tile roofs develop their own biological growth — algae, mold, and lichen — that darkens the tile and creates an aged appearance. Lichen is particularly stubborn: its root-like structures penetrate into the tile surface and require a stronger treatment and longer dwell time than standard algae.

Soft Washing: The Only Safe Method

High-pressure washing damages shingles, cracks tile, dislodges ridge caps, and voids manufacturer warranties. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) recommends soft washing — low-pressure application of a sodium hypochlorite-based solution — as the approved method for removing algae from asphalt shingles.

Our soft wash process:

• Pre-wet all landscaping around the home to protect plants
• Apply professional-grade cleaning solution at appropriate concentration
• Allow 15–20 minutes dwell time for the solution to kill biological growth at the root
• Low-pressure rinse from ridge to eave
• Post-rinse all landscaping

We never use high pressure on roofs. The cleaning solution does the work.

Roof Inspection Included

As a licensed roofing contractor (License #CCC1336785), we inspect every roof we clean. We note missing or damaged shingles, compromised flashing, deteriorated pipe boot seals, and any other issues that need attention. You receive a written report of our findings at no extra charge.

How Long Results Last

Soft washing kills Gloeocapsa magma at the root, not just on the surface. Results typically last 3–5 years in Deltona's climate. We can apply a post-treatment zinc or copper sulfate solution that inhibits regrowth and extends the time between cleanings.

What Roof Algae Costs You

Beyond aesthetics, roof algae has real financial consequences:

Energy costs. Algae-covered roofs absorb more solar heat than clean roofs, increasing attic temperatures and air conditioning load. Many homeowners notice lower electric bills after a roof cleaning.

Shingle life. Gloeocapsa magma consumes the limestone filler in shingles, accelerating granule loss and premature aging. Regular cleaning extends roof life.

Warranty coverage. Most shingle manufacturers require regular cleaning to maintain warranty coverage. Unchecked algae growth that causes damage may not be covered.
